Given the overlap between the cities of Thousand Oaks and Westlake Village, we find the nuances of each city to be a little confusing\u2026<\/p>\n

Why do some kids in Westlake Village go to Agoura High while others go to Westlake?
\nWhat is North Ranch? Or Lang Ranch? Are there more towns within the Conejo Valley?<\/p>\n

Starting with the overlap\u2026<\/em><\/span><\/h4>\n

By that I mean the two towns literally overlap – half of Westlake Village is technically Thousand Oaks.<\/p>\n

We know, it\u2019s odd. But a single town can\u2019t share two counties. So, Westlake Village splits right down the county line and breaks into two distinct sections:<\/p>\n

  1. City of Westlake Village (LA County)<\/li>\n
  2. Westlake Village Township (Ventura County)<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    This split between two counties doesn\u2019t have much effect on the daily living in town. There is a slight difference in sales tax between Ventura and LA County, but it\u2019s unlikely you\u2019ll shop on one side of town vs. the other in order to save. In other words, it\u2019s not a huge difference.<\/p>\n

    The split does<\/em> however answer the questions regarding students in Westlake Village going to Agoura High School.<\/p>\n

    \"\"School Districts |<\/span> LVUSD v. CVUSD<\/span><\/strong><\/h3>\n

    Las Virgenes Unified School District (LVUSD) covers the LA County side of Westlake Village.
    \nWhile Conejo Valley Unified School District (CVUSD) covers the Ventura County side.<\/p>\n

    Students in the city of Westlake Village are assigned to LA County schools – this includes Agoura High School. Naturally, this little nuance stirs up some confusions. Students in Agoura going to Agoura high school makes sense\u2026but why do students in Westlake Village go to Agoura High when they could go to Westlake High?<\/p>\n

    It\u2019s a weird little detail about the Conejo Valley.\u00a0 Although it is worth knowing as you start shopping for homes. LVUSD is one of the top school districts in the state, but if you\u2019re a parent partial to the academic and athletic reputation of Westlake High School, you should gear your search towards the Township of Westlake Village.<\/p>\n

    Westlake High School is a part of CVUSD, which means students living in the Township of Westlake Village will be assigned here.<\/p>\n

    It’s pretty easy to distinguish which homes will be assigned to which school.     Common Terms in the Conejo Valley |<\/span> Lang Ranch, North Ranch, Lake Sherwood, etc.<\/span><\/strong><\/h3>\n

    Whether by us or just around town, you\u2019ll hear names like these thrown around pretty regularly. And while they aren\u2019t each a town of their own, they make up a list of Westlake\u2019s and TO\u2019s most popular groups of neighborhoods.<\/p>\n

    Lang Ranch |<\/span><\/strong> Thousand Oaks<\/span><\/h4>\n

    Lang Ranch is popular area of Thousand Oaks for a number of reasons. Most notably, the schools are some of the best of CVUSD. The location is central to both Westlake Village and Thousand Oaks, and each of the neighborhoods have a natural upkeep and continue to hold their value.<\/p>\n

    North Ranch |<\/span><\/strong> Westlake Village<\/span><\/h4>\n

    Similar to Lang Ranch, North Ranch is a bundle of Conejo Valley’s favorite neighborhoods. But don’t be fooled by the names though, they are not in any way related. North Ranch has a reputation for being one of the most exclusive sections of Westlake Village and is made up of a handful of neighborhoods surrounding the North Ranch Country Club.<\/p>\n

    Lake Sherwood |<\/span><\/strong> Westlake Village<\/span><\/h4>\n

    The gated estates of Lake Sherwood make up another clump of neighborhoods widely known within the Conejo Valley. It’s location presents a level of seclusion from the rest of Westlake Village and surrounding towns. The neighborhoods of Lake Sherwood are probably the closest to being another small town separate the rest of the Conejo Valley. They surround the famous Sherwood Country Club, demanding a certain lifestyle and appeal.<\/p>\n
