Welcome back to school
Firstly, thanks for a great start to the school year, for all your generosity in supporting the PTSA and for subscribing to our newsletter!
Secondly, if you haven’t subscribed, please go to www.colinaptsa.com/blog and sign up to receive all PTSA news, details about events and volunteer opportunities.
Hopefully you are all settling into a routine, whether you are a returning family or completely new. Please keep in mind that parts of our website are new and Emma (colinacommunications@gmail.com) would welcome any feedback, ideas for improvement or information about what is not working! We had some initial problems with the sign in, but these have now been resolved.
Any general PTSA questions can be asked to your board, and our president, Michelle Garcia will be happy to help (colinaptsa@gmail.com).
Please participate in our School Cents initiative – an easy and pleasant way for raising money for our school!

PTSA General Assembly Meeting
Please make time to attend our inaugural General Assembly meeting. Our speaker is from CVUSD Student Support Services, a fantastic, but under-utilized service for you and your student(s).
They will talk about how they strive to serve the whole student by providing assistance for everyone from GATE students to those with special needs, support students in foster care and those with long term illnesses or other issues.
Other services include Conejo Closet and the Substance Abuse education program.
This invaluable information will help you navigate every stage and challenge of your children’s school career.
There will be ample opportunity for a Q&A.
Boys and Girls Club Thursday Sept 26, 2019. 9:10am.
Free Heart Screening for Students/Athletes - Sponsored by Conejo Council of PTAs
FREE Cardiac Screening for Students/Athletes – October 19th at Westlake High School Gym (100 N. Lakeview Canyon Rd, Westlake Village, CA) between 10am and 3pm.
Conejo Council of PTA’s invite all students and athletes ages 12-24 to participate in FREE Cardiac Screening for Students. Online registration is now open!
Pre-register at: https://www.savingheartsfoundation.com/westlake-high-school-saturday-october-19th-2019/
These screenings consist of a 3 step process:
Preliminary health history questionnaire
12-lead EKG
An echocardiogram if the cardiologists deems it necessary upon reviewing the patient’s health history and EKG.
EKGs are administered by Saving Hearts Foundation members and the results are reviewed by cardiologists. The process generally only takes thirty minutes. Male and female screening rooms will be separate, allowing for confidentiality and individual privacy to be respected during the screening process. Patients will be notified immediately of any concerns.
We look forward to seeing your students and athletes there!
Umbrellas Needed
As we come to the end of summer, please donate your no-longer-needed umbrellas and parasols to the school. The students love the shade they offer – any size, shape or color taken.
Thank you so much!
