Dear CVUSD Community: On March 17th and today, the California Department of Education issued new guidance based on the Governor’s Executive Order to assist schools facing closures during the COVID-19 pandemic. At this time, Governor Newsom has not mandated school closures, however in coordination with the Ventura County Office of Education, and with the best interest of the safety and well-being of our students, employees, and community in mind, all Conejo Valley Unified School District Schools will continue to be closed, and all co-curricular activities cancelled through Monday, May 4th, with the potential for this closure to be extended further. This includes the closure of all CVUSD Preschool Programs, CVUSD Child Care, and Conejo Valley Adult Education. These are unprecedented times, and CVUSD thanks you for your continued patience, and understanding while the District engages its educators to craft and develop accessible activities for all students. Immediate next steps will include:
Phone Call Communication: With the purpose of reconnecting - every TK-5 teacher will be reaching out to their students’ families, and the 2nd period teacher of all secondary students (grades 6-12) will be reaching out to their students’ families. Additionally, we recognize the importance of our students’ mental health, and therefore our counselors will provide check-ins.Free Meals for Children: CVUSD will continue to provide FREE meals to children ages 2-18. School Closure Educational Plan With the recent decision to close until May 4th, the District is enacting a long-term educational plan for all students that is comprised of the three phases below: Phase One: District provides voluntary activities (Monday, 3/16/20 to Monday, 3/23/20) Phase Two: District provides enhanced weekly activities calendars by grade-level and content area (Begins Tuesday, 3/24/20)
On Monday, 3/23/20 families will receive instructions via e-mail from the District to access, download, and print weekly activity calendars.Beginning on Tuesday, 3/24/20, online activity calendars will be available. We strongly encourage students to access and download the activities calendar online. Printed copies of these same activity calendars will be available for pick-up at each CVUSD school site from 9am to 1pm.
Phase Three: Distance learning initiates (Anticipated for Tuesday, 4/21/20 and beyond)
Distance Learning is a method of instruction and learning in which lessons or classes are structured by teachers through various platforms (e.g. Canvas, Google Classroom, Zoom, etc.) over the internet, without the need for students to attend school. If your student does not have access to technology, and would like to check out a device, please complete this form.
